Alexander Gavin Smith

	Alexander (Sandy) Gavin Smith, 50, a native of DuQuoin, died Sunday night at 6:45 p.m. in Sutter Medical Center, Santa Rosa, Calif.  He was until semi-retirement a licensed roofing contractor in Ft. Pierce, Fla.  where he leaves a son, Gavin.
	Sandys death was attributed to liver disease.
	Sandy Smith held a vested interest in the family trust, Perry County, Ill.  His father, Lucius, of 218 North Washington St., DuQuoin, 81, survives.  A frequent traveler between the Santa Rosa, California region and Ft. Pierce, Sandy last visited DuQuoin in August.  While there he received treatment by a chiropractor for a lower back pain.
	According to his father, on returning to San Francisco Airport, Sandy complained of back pain.  His brother, Anthony, met him and set up an appointment for a comprehensive examination.  It revealed a liver problem.
	Besides Anthony B., San Francisco, surviving are Alan Bret, brother, Baton Rouge, La. and Suzy Hunt, sister, Scotts Valley, Calif.
